History repeating itself

Scot Horton on his No Comment blog talks about how the Afghan people are upset with the night attacks from the U.S. that are leaving civilians dead. How the soldiers are fed up with being micro-managed by the top brass, and how the optimism of the top brass is completely divorced from reality.

Methinks this was our problem in Vietnam. Deja Vu all over again.

Well, yes... this sounds similar to VietNam... BUT - it sounds even more like AFGHANISTAN, 8 years ago!

True, nothing has changed there in two thousand years, why do we think we're different that the Mongols, British or Russians.
