Captain's Log:
Mother presently in hospital. Two days ago, it took 10 hours from the time we entered the emergency room until they admitted her. The only reason they gave for admittance was her tongue was numb and they didn't know why. First take was they were covering their ass, if she'd gone home and died from something they didn't catch we file a law suit. Second thought, she has Medicare and a supplemental plan, ergo money in the bank.
I thought about taking her home, but it has been extremely hot and her little apartment is like an oven, plus I'd have to spend the weekend watching her in case something did happen and I'd need to rush her back to the ER for another interminable wait for them to do something.

Yesterday a heart doctor found a blood clot in one of her lungs and they started her on blood thinners. She always fights with the nurses over her Lyrica medication. They won't give it to her and she has to have it for fibromyalgia. Their solution was to sedate her for the day.

Going in to check on her today hoping that the blood clot has dissapated and she can go home. Don't know how much longer she can live by herself. Last February she nearly died of pneumonia. Her constant bouts of the runs was traced to Celebrex and she's on another mediation, so that has stopped being a problem. If gets hard having to make choices for a parent. She needs some kind of assisted living, she's not bad enough off for a nursing home. The problem is getting her out from under her house and the cost of assisted living. Right now the emergency room and hospital stays are cheaper because of her insurance.
